Oil is the lifeblood of our society - it heats our homes, powers our factories, and moves us from place to place. Yet, hardly a day goes by where we are not reminded of the price of using fossil fuels - oil spills, carbon dioxide emissions and global warming, and the looming specter of war in the Middle East. Join us this quarter to discuss these issues, as well as the future of energy resources (wind, solar, hydroelectric, hydrogen power, etc.).

The goal of this “brown bag” seminar is to discuss some of the environmental issues facing the northwest and the world today, through an analysis of current articles and the book Farewell Fossil Fuels by Sidney Borowitz. The seminar may include volunteer work, a field trip, and guest lectures.
