Title and Navigation Bar

Africa - “the cradle of humanity”, home to unique flora and fauna and a rapidly growing human population - has been exposed to human impact longer than any other part of the world. This long history of human interaction with nature has created some unique problems but has also led to creative solutions. Join us to learn about the African Environment and discuss some of the lessons we can apply to NW environmental issues.

The goal of this “brown bag” seminar is to discuss some of the environmental issues facing the northwest and the world today, through an analysis of current articles and resources provided by BCC’s scholar-in-residence, Stella Williams. The seminar may include volunteer work, a field trip, and guest lectures.

Instructors: Rob Viens (Environmental Science/Geology),
Kent Short (Oceanography/Meteorology), &
Stella Williams (Fullbright Visiting Scholar)
