On behalf of the Student Science Association, it is my great pleasure to say thanks for participating in the eleventh annual Earth Week celebration! Over 1700 students participated in the lecture and film series. Many more participated in the farmer’s market, potluck, field trips, kitchen swap, poetry contest, food drive, design fair, cafeteria displays, ELFCC events and poetry contest!
We had wonderful entries to the poetry contest (see all the submissions on the Earth Week Poetry Page):
Winners will receive gift certificates to Amazon:
- 1st place: Justin Hart – Prey
- 2nd place: Renee Gotta – Freeway Tree
- 3rd place: Hanna Johnson – The Blue Heron
The Potluck was great – all the dishes were either vegetarian, vegan, organic or local – and the winners of 2 weeks of organic veggie delivery are:
- Best vegan/vegetarian dish: Kellie Farmer – Pear Gorgonzola Pizza
- Best organic dish: Sergey Smirnov - Organic Orange and Almond Quinoa
- Best 100-mile radius dish: Sara Chin – Oatmeal Crusted Apple Custard Pie
